Additive Manufacturing Designer

07 november, 2016

FUNCTION DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an Additive Manufacturing Designer to join the Additive Industries Process & Application Development team. In this multidisciplinary team, you will participate in maximizing the value of our industrial 3D metal printer for end users. Together with our customers you will design new products, develop new applications and optimize existing designs for additive manufacturing. You will capitalize on the design freedom additive manufacturing offers and take all aspects of Additive Manufacturing into account. Activities included are among others analysing and translating functional requirements into topologically optimized product designs, simulation and determining the most effective AM build and support strategy and finishing processes. You prepare the products to be manufactured on the industrial MetalFAB1 3D printing system and verify if the product meets the functional, technical and financial requirements of the end user.

In addition, you will support the design for additive manufacturing process at our customers by providing training, presentations and Master Classes. Your ideas contribute to successfully printed products, showing the added value of Additive Industries’ MetalFAB1 system.

The ingredients for a successful performance are in sum:

  • An integral vision on the 'design for additive manufacturing' process in all its facets
  • Determine and verify the functional requirements for the product design in collaboration with end users
  • Engineering of topology- and cost optimized part and product designs
  • Mechanical strength calculations, simulation and analysis of residual stresses
  • Defining the additive manufacturing build strategy and post processing steps
  • Preparation and realization of the product design on the MetalFAB1 systems
  • Sharing of additive manufacturing design experience by providing training, presentations and master classes

Reporting
The Additive Manufacturing Designer reports to the Process & Application Development Manager.
